388 lots.
A mixed sale, true to the spirit of Paris Vintage: women’s fashion pieces
and menswear, from leading fashion houses, clothes and accessories designed to be worn or collected.
Highlights include a legendary lamé dress by Thierry Mugler, dating from 1979, whose sculptural power has remained intact; numerous quilted leather Chanel bags, emblems of Parisian chic; a sumptuous Valentino “de jour” from the 1970s; and opulent Yves Saint Laurent evening gowns, the perfect embodiment of the excess and audacity of the 1980s.
But also a series of T-shirts, again signed Yves Saint Laurent, for the 1998 Football World Cup, from the fashion show at the Stade de France: a moment of popular and historic fashion, where clothing becomes a collective manifesto.
A Sonia Rykiel wardrobe, from the 1970s to the 2000s, faithful to the spirit of a bygone era: a Rykiel woman dressed only in Rykiel. Second-skin knitwear, sensuality without constraint, Left Bank spirit: the DNA of the house is based on the freedom of the body and movement. The Rykiel woman, according to Sonia, is intellectual, independent, effortlessly sensual, faithful to her style rather than to trends. Fashion that’s alive, everyday and made to last.
We rediscovered an image ofAzzedine Alaïa, all smiles. As if suspended outside time, he seems to be telling us that beauty doesn’t wait, that it’s lived in the moment, as close to the body as possible, as embodied by this 1986 zipped mesh dress, to our great delight.
